I have permission from JMac (John) to create this thread.
This thread is created for voting pourposes only.
I will be making an optional expansion pack for porsche unleashed. This thread is to ditermine if this pack
will ever be incorporated into IPLounge. This thread contains no links other than to see what cars I will
include, but will contain the information on the cars and mods that will be used. This beta will contain
7 addon cars from major brands ( the most liked sports cars), a reflection mod that looks realistic,
Ricks Clean Garage, and a savefile editor. The ep will never contain tracks ever due to the fact there is
no way to add them without replacing originals, so dont ask. What is containd in the pack?

The only mod is a realistic Reflection mod:

All cars will use this porsche as the base: '98 911 gt1 race version
It will also use the '00 911 turbo .sim file to prevent a "SUPER CAR". This is the main issue that most true Porsche Unleashed fans have.
by doing this, the expansion cars, even being modern, will be able to compete with the '00 911 turbo as an equil. this is to prevent a collapse in the game system JMac has worked hard on that most earlier expansion packs would have done.
The car parts do not affect performance, however the tuning does.
The addon cars are not modeld after this car, they are created from scratch in zmoddler.
Car credits go to their respective owners.
Expansion Pack Creation Credits goes to 3dd13 (me)
If people agree to this, and it gets incorporated, future expansion pack car releases will be community requested.

Well ... after the first reply, my humble opinion too:
Porsche Unleashed has its unique magic feeling because ... it's Porsche.
It was produced by the intensive help of the engineers of this legendary factory.
Of course, it is not the very-very coolest and fastest, the ultimate realistic and whatever kind of game software compared to the ones today - it is 10 years old, but still it will be the very same for the racers for long-long time to come.
If it would be mixed with some other cars and software tricks and so on - the whole PU substance would be dissolved.
Let's keep, what we have.

I voted too early, I saw too late that you would like to put in other cars like porsche.
I think you shouldnt put in other cars than porsche, because it is NFS "Porsche".
If you put in just some further porsches, like your posted Cayman S, then I guess it could be good idea.
But I never played porsche online so its just my guessing. |

| Hello Eddie, i think maybe i know ur feeling, Porsche Porsche and Porsche...over so many years then get bored... but those added cars just let me remind the old cga time...cga is a china pu server but closed years before and it's not a good place althought its big, in cga, ppl can using any cars, no rules and chaos there ...no offend, I just worried these kind of pack would bring problems...and then ppl maybe would bring more mods cars here...maybe i'm too "conservative" and worried too much...sry, but that's my opinion. |

That's the problem.
Please don't use any car "as a base" for an other.
Porsche Unleashed is a software created with an authentic concept for driving simulation, not a driving imitation.
We should keep this, because it is keeping us here. |

Hey guys,
As you might be aware, we have a system like this for HS, and it works. It can be done, and we have minimal compatibility issues. The trick is to allow people who have the EP to switch back to the stock game quickly, so they can race with people who do not have it. In other words, the EP should be optional.

Adding cars that have the same performance as another car is a bad idea. It's sort of similar to adding a track in HS that only has new textures - nice to look at, but there's no new challenge. A new challenge is important for online players, much more than for the modding community members, because online racers are more competitive, while modders care more about how the game looks.
I'm not going to vote on this. I don't play enough PU to make a decision like this.

If there is any need for ep, it should be based on Porsche cars ONLY. We don't need cars with performances based on existing Porsche models, it is apsurd.
I totally agree with unBtable. Maybe, if enough people want ep, it should be done, but as separate division of IPL, where the fans of newer versions of Porsches would have proper satisfaction.
The problem with higher texture cars (mostly conversions from newer NFS games) can be solved by limiting number of players in pit, for example. |

What I'd like to see is the race cars get upgraded to reflect the stated specs in game. For example, the 935 should be the fastest car in the game. The real world and in game specs for the 935 claim a 0 to 60mph speed of 2.8 seconds, but in actual in game play it takes over 5 seconds. A GT1 should be significantly faster than a modded 911 Turbo, but it's barely faster, and only when using the gearing bug.
I seem to recall some limitation in Porsche Unleashed's physics in previous attempts to get the race cars to match their real world specs. |

and only if it is new cars, not just a 00 turbo with another skin.

This is a great game as it is ....would new cars just "skin" show really any benift....personally I dont think so...but this is just my opinon.
More importantly who does all the extra work involded to change the scan and the stats to add these things .....surely we not just taking JMac for granted he has worked extremely hard on all this....and currently working on yet the 4th version of iplounge .....TY greatly JMac.
I see in the pits several are running with C on or D on and some with CD on this in itself adds more to game than a few cars that react the same as cars we have already.
Now granted as far as eye candy goes these cars do look nice ....but as my wife would tell me " Honey you can look all you like in fact get an eye full but dont you dare touch "  _________________ FRIENDS FOR LIFE

i can add the new sim files for the cars, but that will cause a super car. the murcielago hits something like 0-60 in a few seconds on the game and the fastest porsche on the game is no match for it. this is what im trying to avoid. its not a ''00 911 with a new skin. the acceleration is the same, yes, but the physics, handeling, and overall feel of the car is ditermined by the body. these arnt just new skins, they are new cars with the base performance of another car. i intentionally did this to, again, prevent a super car. by everything, it seems at first like a skin on another car, but wait untill you use it. it feels completely different.
i am making 2 ep's.
one is porsche only, the other will include the other cars. it is up to you to decide if one or both or even neither become part of iplounge. |
